Choosing a great leader is difficult; to be one is certainly even harder. The capability to successfully apply ideas and practices; motivate other people to have faith in themselves, their ideas, as well as your leadership; in addition to maintaining an open communication, but still impose rules, doesn’t necessarily make the leader role suitable for everyone. Many people believe that leadership is inherent. Some claim that it’s learned.
For all current and aspiring leaders out there, perhaps all you need is a little bit of inspiration from the great leaders of our time. Here are some great leadership quotes to live by:
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams
“Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it’s amazing what they can accomplish.” – Sam Walton
Great leaders are almost always great simplifiers, who can cut through argument, debate, and doubt to offer a solution everybody can understand.” – General Colin Powell
“The single biggest way to impact an organization is to focus on leadership development. There is almost no limit to the potential of an organization that recruits good people, raises them up as leaders and continually develops them.” – John Maxwell
“The best executive is the one who has sense enough to pick good men to do what he wants done, and self-restraint to keep from meddling with them while they do it.” – Theodore Roosevelt
“I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is: Try to please everybody.” – Herbert Swope
“You don’t lead by pointing and telling people some place to go. You lead by going to that place and making a case.” – Ken Kesey
“The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly.” – Jim Rohn
“Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion.” – John Welch
Regardless if you are a leader or a follower, remember that neither job is free from challenges, aggravations, and rewards. Becoming a great role model, a great example for your followers, along with, the followers of others is an excellent starting point. Leadership isn’t easy, but the rewards are extremely worth the troubles.
